Regina O. Matthews
Ms. Matthews received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1969, earned a Masters in Library Science from Louisiana State University in 1976, and received her Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from Tulane University in 1988. While in law school, she was the Senior Managing Editor of the Tulane Law Review and was awarded the Order of the Coif.
Before joining Martzell & Bickford, Ms. Matthews served as law clerk to Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice John A. Dixon, Jr. Her litigation practice includes trial and appellate work involving commercial and white-collar criminal and regulatory matters, as well as representation of health professionals in insurance, contracts, and Medicaid/Medicare fraud matters. Ms. Matthews also practices in the areas of professional licensure defense, estate planning and probate.
Ms. Matthews is a member of the American, Louisiana State, and New Orleans Bar Associations and is a member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council. In addition to these organizations, Ms. Matthews is a member and former director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana and is a founding director of AIDSLaw of Louisiana, Inc. She is active in several civic rights advocacy and political organizations on the national level.
