Overview

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer in the protective sac that covers the lungs. Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they were exposed to asbestos fibers. Mesothelioma does not develop immediately after inhalation of asbestos, there is a latency period that can last between 10 and 50 years.
