In June 2023, Martzell, Bickford & Centola (MB&C) with Lillis Law Firm, filed a lawsuit for invasion of privacy against a Slidell man, Jonathan Bethancourt, and his company. This legal action comes in the wake of criminal charges filed against Bethancourt.
Police arrested Bethancourt and charged him with 11 counts of video voyeurism. Investigators claim that Bethancourt installed a hidden camera, disguised as a smoke detector, in his Slidell bathroom and there may be several victims.
MB&C and Lillis Law Firm are representing a minor who is a victim of Mr. Bethancourt's alleged crimes.
The civil lawsuit seeks to address the privacy violations and potential damages suffered by the victim, separate from the ongoing criminal proceedings.
